NJMFPA Fire Photo Radio System

The NJMFPA utilizes a UHF based radio system to alert members and transmits information regarding fires, both monitored over standard radio frequencies, and more importantly, from the actual scenes of active jobs.

Metro 1 Alpine Radio System, is a division of the NJMFPA.  It is a radio system designed for fire photographers, but is open to anyone with an interest in the fire service.  If you wish to listen to Fire Photo Radio, Metro1 Alpine is received on 452.175Mhz, with a PL tone of 114.8

Metro 1 Alpine transmits CONFIRMED WORKING FIRES ONLY, and reports from the scene of those fires.  There are no reports of accidents, haz-mat operations, traffic tie-ups, police incidents, or idle talk that can be done on the telephone.

Our rules are strictly enforced and monitored by supervisors.  If the radio system is quiet, that usually means there are no working fires.  If a worker is reported, experienced members respond and give ACCURATE reports from the scene.  This ensures that other responding members know whether or not to continue response to the scene or not.  Hearing reports first-hand from a member at the scene can give a visual that pager companies cannot, and are invaluable to the fire photographer.

If you are interested in joining Fire Photo Radio, contact the Radio Chairman for an application form.  Application forms should be mailed to our PO Box listed on the form, along with annual dues of $75.00, payable each January.
